Backcountry Supplies was founded in 2011 on Main Street in Camrose, Alberta. From the very beginning, our mission has been simple: provide excellent customer service and make sure our shelves are stocked with the products our customers truly need. The steady growth we’ve enjoyed over the years tells us that this commitment still matters to the people we serve.

By 2012, our little gun shop on Main Street had outgrown its space, and it was time to expand. Moving into the Duggan Mall gave us room to grow beyond a small selection of hunting and fishing gear. We tripled our firearm inventory and added reloading equipment and meat processing supplies to better serve our community.

In 2015, we made another big move—this time a little closer to home, settling just south of Hardisty, Alberta. Our small “Ma & Pa” shop kept its welcoming, small-town feel while offering a selection that could rival any big-city store. As we grew, we added archery supplies and bowsmithing, while also putting a stronger focus on gunsmithing and building custom long-range rifles.

By 2019, our reach had stretched across the country—from coast to coast, down to our southern neighbours, and even as far north as Tuktoyaktuk. The demand was clear, and so came the launch of our online store, allowing us to begin shipping internationally.

In 2024, we embraced another exciting step by joining third-party marketplaces like Amazon, opening the doors to millions of new customers who may not have discovered us otherwise.

Through every move and milestone, one thing has never changed: our gratitude. We are incredibly thankful for the loyal customers and friends who have supported us along the way. Your stories, experiences, and adventures inspire us every day and remind us why we love what we do.
